Teaching Lingo and South Side Sensei started in 2016 when I began my language teaching journey at a small primary school as the sole Japanese teacher. Since then, I have worked with a range of experienced language teachers across primary and secondary, learning, making mistakes and growing along the way. This page highlights many of the lessons I have learnt through my language teaching journey and offers support, resources, tips, ideas and tricks to other language teachers, particularly Japanese. It also offers information about my language tutoring and after school language classes for kids.
About me
My name is Stephanie, and I am a passionate languages and piano teacher in Melbourne, Australia. I have been teaching languages since 2016, and piano since 2010. I have a Masters of Teaching (primary, modern languages) from the University of Melbourne, as well as a Graduate Certificate of TESOL, also from UoM. Currently, I am teaching primary Japanese at a private school in Melbourne, as well as piano from my studio South Side Piano. I have experience teaching Japanese, Spanish and EAL and I am passionate about language teaching pedagogy!
